Picnics in the Park are part of a peer support and health promotion project targeted to disadvantaged inner city residents such as homeless people or people at risk of homelessness; young people and people with substance misuse issues. However, anyone who is interested in these issues, community health, or hepatitis is encouraged to attend.

Picnics provide attendees with healthy food, social and recreational activities, educational material, access to service providers and live entertainment. The principal objectives are the promotion of behaviour change that incorporates harm reducation and healthier lifestyles and education and awareness of community services amongst disadvantaged groups.
