About Hepatitis Queensland
Hepatitis Queensland is the peak Queensland not-for-profit organisation providing a range of initiatives and programs to prevent viral hepatitis and improve the lives of those affected by the disease including, among others, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people in corrections settings, people who inject drugs, people from high prevalence countries. We acknowledge the diversity of the people and communities whose lives may be affected, and we represent their interests in the work we do.
We are a membership-based incorporated association, and we thrive on working in partnership with people with lived experience, and with individuals and organisations who have an interest in our work.
Our focus areas include:
- • Blood-borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections,
- • Chronic diseases (e.g. liver disease, liver cancer, obesity),
- • Culturally and linguistically diverse communities,
- • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health,
- • Primary care services and providers (e.g. PHNs, ACCHOs, GPs, Nurses, Health workers),
- • Alcohol and other drugs,
- • Health promotion and disease prevention.
It is a very exciting time for Hepatitis Queensland and a great time to become a member. In October, we published another successful Annual Report highlighting our highly impactful work and welcomed some influential new Board members. In May, we welcomed our new CEO, and in 2025 we will be celebrating with our members as we turn 30 years old.
