2023-2024 Hepatitis Queensland Annual Report
2023-2024 Hepatitis Queensland Annual Report
We are proud to present Hepatitis Queensland’s Annual Report for 2023–2024, a reflection of our continued commitment to improving the liver health of all Queenslanders. Our organisation remains financially stable, and this year’s report highlights the significant strides we’ve made in supporting individuals to live free from the burden of viral hepatitis and liver disease.
As the peak Queensland hepatitis organisation, we continue to play a pivotal role in the collective effort to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. This year, we’re proud to have met or exceeded our strategic goals and activity targets, raising awareness and driving prevention, testing, and treatment in communities across the state.
Our commitment to reconciliation continued through our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. The plan drives us to reflect on existing practices and re-envision how we can further support the journey towards enhanced liver health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland.
We expanded our highly regarded hepatitis C testing program further into new priority community environments, providing dignified and culturally appropriate access to care at easily accessible locations.
As we continue to make a positive community impact in the elimination of viral hepatitis, we would like to thank members of the Hepatitis Queensland Board for their ongoing dedication and commitment to strategically leading the organisation. We appreciate the significant contribution of David Bartlett (resigned June 2024), and Dr Graeme Macdonald (resigned May 2024).
We recognise the outstanding contribution of the Hepatitis Queensland team, and we gratefully acknowledge our funders and partner organisations including Queensland Health, Hepatitis Australia, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, Queensland Corrective Services, ASHM, Brisbane South Primary Health Network, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust, Gilead Sciences, AbbVie, Kombi Clinic, and QuIHN among others. We sincerely thank our members and donors for their continued support.
We acknowledge the contribution of those with lived experience, the power of our genuine partnerships, and the shared decision-making that has enhanced the impact of our work and created meaningful change.
